Early mornings are “my” time.  My sanity, escapism, release….
With 6 babies under my belt or dare I admit, hanging over it, a love of baking, chocolate, cappucinos, well food in general and a disregard for all things chemically altered (read low fat products) exercise is an important and necessary part of my life.

The kids are generally still asleep and if Eliza is awake, she quite enjoys helping Dad milk the cow from the safety of her pram.

Weather permitting, I take to the road, either jogging or riding my trusty push bike.

I’m learning that white running shoes are not always practical as you kick up the dust, dodge manure piles
or slosh through the puddles!

Although running in mud boots probably won’t cut it either..

Our heifers are a little bewildered by my activities, especially the push bike.

And in the wet, are unwilling to relinquish the hard surface.
We all know that there will be many sunny, dry days ahead and I have being enjoying the rainy weather staple of pikelets so have agreed to share.
For who knows what tomorrow morning’s eenie-meenie-joggers or gumboots-minie-mo will bring…

I really should take a leaf out of your and Fiona’s book…running is something I normally do only if there is a cow chasing me 🙂 I do though need to get off my butt more and get back into walking. My me time at present is that first coffee in the mornings before the kids get up, listening to the news very quietly.

as for the wet weather footgear, a recent purchase of cheap “surf shoes” for mum and the kids has been one of the best things I have done, can slop through water and mud and it doesn’t matter, but the sole of ones tender feet are protected! Not sure how they would be for running support wise, but great for walking down muddy roads or bike riding. And brilliant for creek swimming too (no more cutting feet on rocks or sticks)

“Surf shoes” sound like a terrific idea – I did try going barefoot with the kids yesterday. I am way too tender footed to do that again! And yes, that would certainly work for the flood fencing…that will be next on agenda once the water gets away a bit!!
Fiona is my inspiration although I think she is a bit more “hard core” than I!?
I do love to go outside though, spend way too much time sitting looking at bookwork/computer/school at present…

I got ours at big w, but have learned that kids ones need velcro fastening so they can get them on/off…if they don’t have that you will have to help them get them on, they are made to be snug fitting. Wore mine for a short walk today and they were perfectly comfortable. Fashionable not 🙂

Ainsley, I certainly have you bluffed if you think I’m “hard core”. Like you, my exercise habit stems from my love of food, so the harder and longer I run, the more I can eat! I have been grateful these past wet days for the treadmill in the shed, though admittedly the view isn’t so pleasant. I had to laugh at your ‘hanging over the belt’ comment; I think you’re looking rather fine.

Dear Lord you lot. Running AND getting up early. As you can see by my blog post times, I’m a night owl. I admire the heck out of you though! Love your mud puddles – they are everywhere here today.
    🙂
