Our small community Church is very familiar with the McArthur Family; we’ve held 5 Baptisms there in the past 8 years! Dare I say, we’ve almost got the Bush Christening down pat….

We woke early Sunday to enjoy pancakes & grilled bananas ably prepared by Tess, who relished the opportunity to help out in the kitchen on her brief visit home. She also deserves credit for the 3 varieties of Rocky Road that was devoured by adults and kids alike.

Rob & Uncle Blair shelled the crabs for sandwiches (I’ll spare you the photo of the pair in their pyjamas with juice up to their elbows!) while the kids blew up the balloons and bathed and dressed in their Sunday best. (There was a scramble as we realised that the boys had all grown since the last time they had worn their “trousers” and Hamish’s barely covered his boots. And of course we all shuffled the boots down the line as feet had grown to match!)

We did contemplate a family portrait but gave up quite quickly – as you can see the boys were looking down the road, fretting about playing with their mates and being late for church.

The lovely Delfina  conducted a beautiful service and spoke so directly to all of us but mostly for the children. To have 34 children dancing and singing to the last hymn (The Butterfly Song) was certainly refreshing and oh so appropriate.

And to then have a perfect photo opportunity of Eliza’s dear friends – they lined themselves up with no fuss although I think a couple are hiding behind their taller mates!!

Following church, we then descended onto the verandah to have..
… a most enjoyable afternoon with beer, wine, crab sandwiches, biscuits, beautiful slices and of course some “Signature Beef” rib fillet ably cooked by Uncle Blair…
alongside some sensational salads (thank-you everyone!!)

The kids had a ball – there were boys only games……….

cricket, lego, and of course there was some mustering and drafting to do, girls games, spy games and VIP games…so I’m informed today!

And as you can see by the line up of toyota’s on the lawn – it was truly a “bush” Christening.
Do you think we should contact toyota about a “fleet” deal!?

Now to begin planning the next occasion “On the Verandah” – a 21st for this beautiful girl.

I guess it will be the first of six to get down pat………..

the garden looked gorgeous and the food….there is nothing like a bush gathering to have some of the tastiest food!(and there looks to be some very good cooks hiding in your neck of the woods!)

and I know all about long pants suddenly getting too short and the shuffle down the line, lucky jeans are unisex!
