There’s a lot to be excited about this week. A reprieve from the school routine being the biggest driver of the smiles around here.

Last Friday we made the trip to town to collect Andrew from boarding school.

He was very fortunate to have his 12th birthday fall the next day. After indulging in Chocolate Mud Cake at school, with his fellow boarders, he requested Cinnamon Scrolls for his birthday smoko. Nobody complained about his choice …. apart from my waistline!

The older child returning certainly changes the dynamics in our household as the pecking order reestablishes itself.

This occurs amongst a fair bit of noise and jostling although they all tend to conform when food is on the table!

The horses too, seem super excited that holidays are here.

Rob is grateful that Andrew is home and can help his siblings saddle and mount.

It’s a fairly time consuming job doing up girths and legging children into the saddle ….

We haven’t made any big plans for the school holidays, other than being at home training pups, mustering cattle, feeding animals, tending gardens, building fences, cleaning house, riding horses, washing clothes, baking cakes and keeping up with maintenance.

I think everyone is pretty content with days filled doing just that …….

Beautiful pictures! I too, will be enjoying school holidays very soon – as a teacher though 😛 Nothing better than spending it enjoying each other’s company!

I imagine teachers would appreciate the school holidays just as much as us! I agree, it’s so nice to find a holiday rhythm without a timetable to follow x

I love it Ainsley! Just beautiful – children, home, food and setting. Pretty sure our sole reason for procreating is to get a brood of kiddies in RB Sellars workshirts, I’m BUSTING to get Eleanor in one, but they start at size 2 – nearly there! You must love having them all home together. I’m so impressed by your littlies and their riding, bloody brilliant! Also, your windows – love! Happy holidays x

I’d actually try little Eleanor in a RB Sellars shirt …. my kids all started wearing them around 12 months. Just put a couple of rolls in the sleeve. It is just bliss having all my chicks under my wing. Did you notice I had the screens pulled off the windows so that I could wash them!? Another school holiday project 😉
