Good Friday is upon us and with no school, cattle in the yards or other pressing engagements we spent some time in the garden.
On the discovery of a grub feasting in the tomatoes, we made an executive decision to bring the chickens in to do combat.
We are also hoping that these little ladies will help speed our composting and fertilise the beds.

The bananas were ripe for picking. I think we will be enjoying banana smoothies, banana bread and banana cake this week….
The passionfruit vine is also loaded with fruit, along with the bush lemon trees….I’m thinking passionfruit butter, passionfruit trifle, passionfruit sponge, fruit salad?!

The boys rebuked me today when I added bacon to the pasta we had for lunch informing me that today is the day for Hot Cross Buns….
Hamish is very excited about Sunday, the only day of the year that you’re allowed chocolate for breakfast!
May your Easter be a Safe & Happy one, shared with the special people in your life….

ah, to live somewhere with kinder fruit and vege growing conditions. My passionfruit, whilst healthy has no fruit. Think it needs a good dose of potash (expert advice once told me) to counteract the chook poo (mine is growing at the chook run too, but I seem to be the only one with fruiting problems due to excesses of chook poo goodness!)

    happy easter!

Chooks in the vege garden … permaculture at its best. As far as the passionfruit, I’ll pass on the trifle for some sponge thanks … another K on the treadmill!
